Do I need an account?
No. There's no sign-in, no account, and nothing to set up. Open the app, grant Photos access when asked, and start compressing.
Where does compression happen?
Entirely on your device, using your device's built-in hardware video encoder. Nothing is uploaded — the app has no servers and makes no network calls during compression.
Will it lower the quality of my videos?
Compression typically reduces file size by around 70% with no visible drop in quality, using the same HEVC encoder Apple's own Camera app relies on.
What happens to the original video?
You choose. After compressing, you can replace the originals with the smaller versions, or keep both — the choice is made once, for the whole batch.
Is there a subscription?
No. Video Space Saver is a one-time purchase — £3, once. No subscription, no in-app purchases.
Which devices does it work on?
iPhone, iPad, and Mac (Apple Silicon).
